There’s a Liberian proverb that says, “The river does not flow past its source.”

Translation: Never forget where you come from.

And me? I’m a real Liberian girl, not the one Michael Jackson was singing about 😄 but one born in Liberia, raised with roots that still ground me today. Even though I grew up in the U.S., some of my richest memories are from Liberia… and guess what? They didn’t cost a thing.

We made magic out of nothing. Just imagination, joy, and community.

👣+👏🏾Playing nine-foot (keeping rhythm with our hands and feet like little performers)

🌍 I Declare War (drawing countries in the dirt and running like champions)

🪨 Tossing and catching rocks in games we never even named (I still don’t know what this game is called 😂🤦🏾‍♀️)

And maybe that’s why traveling means so much to me now. It’s not about spending big, it’s about feeling something, reconnecting, and creating memories that actually matter.

That’s also why I love using the #traveladvantage app✈️. Because you don’t need to be rich to explore you just need to be intentional. No matter where I go, I carry Liberia with me ❤️🇱🇷 Can you say 24+ Countries; 29 US States?!

Ready to travel smarter and still honor your roots?
